Christ's Inner Way

Biblically documenting the Inner Way theology which was expressed by Johannes Tauler through his sermons in the 14th century.

This website will open the doors to everyone so that they can enter the Holy Spirit's temple, which is inside of every one of God's chosen children.

Jesus Christ is the Holy Spirit which was put into our hearts by God.

The Inner Way

The Inner Way theology is centered on Contemplative Prayer, Total Surrender, and the Union with God as expressed through the sermons of Johannes Tauler in the 14th century.

Dr. Michael H Yeager masterfully summarized Tauler's teachings in his book Johannes Tauler: The Inner Way - Contemplative Prayer, Total Surrender and the Union with God, revealing the profound spiritual depth within Christian mysticism.

This tradition emphasizes the inward journey of the soul—a turning away from external distractions and worldly pursuits toward the eternal presence of God within.

“The Inner Way is the path of surrendering our will to God's will, allowing the Holy Spirit to dwell fully within us, transforming us from within so that we might reflect His divine image to the world.”— Johannes Tauler (14th Century)

Christ's Inner Way in Scripture

Christ's Inner Way will be proven, and totally revealed through quoted scripture as stated in the 21st Century King James Version.

John 14:15-17 (21st Century King James Version)

“If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

The Holy Spirit dwells within those who love and obey Christ, making the inner temple a living reality for all believers.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (21st Century King James Version)

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”

Paul's words affirm that each believer's body is a sacred temple where God's Spirit resides, calling us to honor this divine indwelling.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (21st Century King James Version)

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

True spiritual transformation comes through total surrender to Christ, dying to our old self and rising anew in His image.

Romans 12:1-2 (21st Century King James Version)

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”

Spiritual transformation requires presenting ourselves wholly to God and renewing our minds to align with His will, not the world's.

Galatians 2:20 (21st Century King James Version)

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

The essence of the Inner Way is the death of self and the life of Christ within—complete surrender to divine union.

Spiritual transformation journey from cleansing to abundance

The Holy Spirit's Temple Within

Step 1: Cleansing

We must first recognize that our inner temples overflow with our will and demands. Through prayer and surrender, we cleanse our hearts, removing the debris of pride, attachment to earthly things, and self-centeredness.

Step 2: Emptying

Total surrender means dying to our desires and ambitions. Only when we are emptied of self can we truly make room for God's infinite presence and will.

Step 3: Filling

Once clean, the Holy Spirit's inner temple overflows with His divine fruit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.

Step 4: Reflection

When filled with God's fruit, we naturally reflect His image to others, becoming living witnesses of His transforming grace and divine presence.

We have the Holy Spirit's temple inside each of us and we must first clean out His temple from overflowing with our will and demands. Once it is clean, then we can fill the Holy Spirit's inner temple that is within us, with His love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.

The Fruit of Christ's Holy Spirit

Love

The selfless, sacrificial love of Christ that seeks the good of others above self-interest.

Joy

Deep, spiritual joy rooted in union with God, transcending earthly circumstances.

Peace

The peace that passes understanding, guarding hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Longsuffering

Patient endurance and forbearance, bearing with others in grace and compassion.

Gentleness

Meekness and kindness in spirit, reflecting Christ's gentle strength and humility.

Goodness

Virtue and righteousness flowing from a transformed heart aligned with God's will.

Faith

Trust and confidence in God's faithfulness, believing beyond what we can see.

Meekness

Humble submission to God's will, free from pride and self-assertion.

Temperance

Self-control and moderation, mastering passions through the Spirit's power.

These nine fruits represent the fullness of Christ's character. When we surrender to the Holy Spirit's work within us, He cultivates these virtues in our souls, transforming us from the inside out.

Reflecting the Image of God

The Holy Spirit will overflow our inner temples with this fruit so that we may reflect these fruit to others. We will then reflect to others the image of God.

This is why we were created: to hear God, as in the garden of Eden, so that we can love and obey Him through the Holy Spirit and reflect the image of God to the world.

When we surrender our wills completely to God's will, when we cleanse our inner temples of worldly attachments and self-centeredness, and when we allow the Holy Spirit to fill us with His divine fruit, we become living expressions of Christ's love to a broken world.

We are called to be the very reflection of God's image—bearers of His presence, vessels of His grace, and witnesses to His transforming power.
